I never realized how important boundaries were until I learned about them.  Like seriously, I was in my 30s before I understood what boundaries are, why they're needed and how to properly set them in your life.  When I did begin to set them I set them for people that were outside my immediate circle.  I'm calling this blog post Boundaries 2.0 but there was definitely more pieces to the puzzle that I didn't realize.

My boundaries are super important to me these days. I guess bc I’ve gone years without them.

Looking at this list almost triggers me bc it reminds me of the times very close people who said they loved and cared about me continued to break my boundaries only because they thought they could.

They thought it was not a big deal even though I expressed my displeasure. They were so comfortable with me not enforcing my boundaries or having conditions to breaking my boundaries that it was sorta like I didn’t have one in the first place.

I always have to remember to set boundaries and reinforce them as well.

What will you do when someone oversteps the boundaries you put into place?
What will you do if they continuously break them?

These are questions I didn’t ask myself before and when I did I didn’t think about the people closest to me that I love and care about. I set boundaries for people outside my immediate circle but that was a mistake.

The boundaries are really for the ones we love and care about so our relationships can remain healthy and in balance.

Thank God those people who couldn’t respect my boundaries are out of my life and I can move forward 💯 #boundaries

FAMU Announcer’s ‘Ozempic’ Comment Sparks Outrage- FAMU Announcer Joe Bullard vs. ASU Honey Beez

When the Mic Crosses the Line: The ASU Honey Beez, Joe Bullard, and the Fight for Respect BY Phatabulous Magazine Staff 10-5-2025 It was supposed to be another electric halftime show , the type of performance that makes HBCU culture shine. But what should’ve ended with applause and celebration turned into a moment that stunned thousands both in the stands and online. As the Alabama State University Honey Beez, a nationally recognized plus-size dance team, exited the field after their energetic performance against Florida A&M University, FAMU’s longtime band announcer Joe Bullard took the mic and made a comment that has since echoed far beyond the stadium: “The new face of Ozempic.” The remark, referencing a popular weight loss drug, drew audible gasps from the crowd. In video clips that quickly went viral, you can hear fans questioning what they just heard. What was meant to be a lighthearted halftime moment suddenly turned into a public moment of body-shaming, disrespect, and disb...

Ask Candace - Why Do I Still Struggle To Love My Body?

Ask Candace Is Back - #2 There’s something powerful about questions that linger. A while back, we invited readers to write in, about love, bodies, confidence, boundaries, and the quiet thoughts that don’t always make it into group chats. The responses came. Some arrived quickly. Others trickled in over time. And a few sat with me for a while, waiting for the right moment. That moment is now. Ask Candace was always meant to be a space where honesty could breathe. Not perfection. Not performance. Just real conversations about navigating life in a body, and a world, that often has too many opinions. Since our last column, so much has shifted. Bodies are being policed again. Thinness is being repackaged as “wellness.” Dating feels heavier. Many of us are healing, unlearning, starting over, and redefining confidence on our own terms. So we’re bringing Ask Candace back, not because I have all the answers, but because sometimes what we need most is to be reminded that we’re not alone, not bro...

When Jokes Cross the Line - What Cardi B's Comments Really Reveal

When Jokes Cross the Line What Cardi B's Comments Really Reveal Phatabulous Magazine Staff Growing up, I was always the fat one. There were other girls with my name, but I was always described as “the short fat one.” I hated it. I never got so used to it that I was okay with it, I just learned not to lash out every time. Most of the time, I let it go because I realized people weren’t trying to get a rise out of me. Maybe they didn’t know. Maybe they didn’t care. But the truth is, it always hurt. That’s why when Cardi B, one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world, made recent comments that many found fatphobic, it struck a nerve. While speaking with fans online about her WWE t-shirts selling out, Cardi joked: “The box sets are completely sold out, especially because you fat fks — clearly you guys are fat as fk, no Chick-fil-A for y’all.” She went on to say: “Now, knowing that my fans is fat, I can’t even make fun of fat people no more. Don’t call me fatphobic, y’all, ’cau...
